The price was right. The car seems right. It’s a 2.0t Lux wagon loaded with everything except the VR6 and AWD.
$5500 from a dealer for a 2008 with ice cold air, nice soft leather, rear seat window shades, Bluetooth for phone calls, and memory seats. It just turned 101k, and lived its life in eastern NC where it was serviced every 6 months at the VW dealer in Wilmington, until it was sold at auction last year and came to Charlotte.
It needs a few things - but they’re minor. I ordered key fobs already, and will be ordering the end caps to the roof rails tomorrow, but all in all it’s super solid and my wife loves it.
Now Cheapster Cherokee is for sale.

The B6 Passats age a lot better than the B5s?

In my opinion they’re the best looking VW wagon. The B5.5 hasn’t aged badly though. The early b5 was so very 90s though. They’re definitely Radwood-worthy.

I was speaking more in terms of reliability. I see early aughts Passat wagons with tons of problems posted for crazy cheap on CL ‘ round here (PNW), though that might be selection bias.

I think one of the regular occurrences with that generation is heater core problems that requires removing the dash which takes a lot of time.
